Nancy Sandra Stokes, 68, of Greenville, SC, passed away at her home on October 13, 2016.

Daughter of the late Ira and Margaret Stokes, Nancy was also predeceased by her sister, Mildred Steading and her brothers Billy and Dennis Stokes. For most of her life she was a long time member of the former East North Street Baptist Church in Greenville.

Nancy was the last survivor of her immediate family, but leaves behind nephews, Ray Stokes, Matt Stokes and Tommy Steading and nieces Nelinda Naji, April Spataro, and Lea Noroi. Also, sisters-in-law Kathy Stokes and Selina Stokes, brother-in-law Larry Steading and so many special friends and cousins. Last, but not least, her four cats that were her babies.

Nancy was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and also earned an Associate Degree in Medical Technology at Greenville Technical College. Nancy retired from Greenville Hospital Systems after 34 years of service as a Microbiology Lab Technician.

Nancy loved her family and friends, her cats and all animals, music, and Furman football. She always was the life of the party with that beautiful smile and no one had a laugh like hers. Nancy rescued so many stray cats and always made sure they were checked out with a vet and adopted. She once took a vacation to work with the cats at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah.

Nancy was secure in her Christian faith and love of Jesus. A memorial service will be conducted by Celebrant Dennis Porter on Friday, October 21st, at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Remembrance Chapel in Greenville, SC with Visitation at 1:00 pm prior to her service.

Memorials can be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah, 84741.
