Shelby Jean Looper Canham, age 76, wife of Harold Lafayette Canham, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Major and Josie Bayne Looper. Mrs. Canham was the owner of Gallery Hair Salon in Taylors for over 40 years, was the Vice President of Hamlett Builders, and was the first female member of the Spike Homebuilders Club. She attended Taylors First Baptist Church. Mrs. Canham had a generous heart and loved helping others. She led and organized several ministries which provided Christmas gifts and food...

Shelby Jean Looper Canham, age 76, wife of Harold Lafayette Canham, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Major and Josie Bayne Looper. Mrs. Canham was the owner of Gallery Hair Salon in Taylors for over 40 years, was the Vice President of Hamlett Builders, and was the first female member of the Spike Homebuilders Club. She attended Taylors First Baptist Church. Mrs. Canham had a generous heart and loved helping others. She led and organized several ministries which provided Christmas gifts and food to needy families and cancer patients. One of her greatest joys was to love others; and because of that, she had many that called her Mama Shelby and Meme.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Mrs. Canham is survived by a daughter, Tina Reneé Smerdon and husband Tim; two grandsons, Dustin Smerdon and wife Irina, and Blake Smerdon and wife Lindsey; and three brothers, Kenneth Looper, Dewayne Looper and wife Stephanie, and Tommy Looper. She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Nancy Looper.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Johnny Touchet with entombment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573, or IGO Missions, Designated for Touchet, P.O. Box 161295, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
